We were coined with the phrase “It hurts... but it works!”

People who come to Therapy Central have one universal truth in common: they’ve been in pain (for months or even years) and have tried practically everything to get rid of it, and still, nothing has worked.

Your pain is simply the method your body uses to tell you that there’s a deeper issue. Work needs to be done to correct the situation.

We are licensed massage therapists. But we don’t burn candles, play music, or dim the lights. The method we use is unique.

Our clients are usually sore for 2-3 days afterward and sometimes may even sport some really cool looking bruises.

We use a combination of myofascial release, ischemic pressure, and deep tissue massage through targeted ranges of motion of the problem area(s) being treated.

The body is the healer and has almost an unlimited capacity to heal itself if the structural integrity, blood flow, and circulation are restored. That is what we do. We eliminate pain by balancing the body’s integrity.

Who we are and what we do

We’ve built our business on the premise that there are entirely too many people in constant pain

Our goal at Therapy Central is to help as many people as we can eliminate pain and get back to doing the things in their lives that give them purpose, meaning, and joy.

Meet the founder

Ken Moench has been a massage therapist for over 26 years. He was going to school to become a physical therapist.

A few of the courses Ken needed to take to accomplish his goal were only offered during the workday. He was looking for a job that had more flexibility with his course work and ended up attending classes at a massage therapy school.

After getting licensed, Ken began working with some of the physical therapy clients who weren’t making the progress they had hoped for.

The patients who hadn't responded to traditional physical therapy treatments were getting amazing results with the massage bodywork. Before long, Ken was doing 8 hours of massage therapy a day as a physical therapy aide only making $9/hour.

How Therapy Central Bodywork got started

Shortly after, Ken decided to go out on his own and began hauling his massage table all over town treating his growing clientele.

He then was invited to work at Massage Therapy clinic and was there for two years before he opened his own office in central Austin. After years of the tiring commute, he decided to open an office near home in Round Rock.

Ken’s method is unique. He specializes in injury rehabilitation and has developed a technique we now call “The Moench Method.” The Moench Method incorporates Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, and Trigger Point Therapy. Many people hear Myofascial Release and deduce that they’ve already tried it and it didn’t work.

What's unique about the Moench Method & Therapy Central Bodywork

This is not anything you’ve ever experienced before. The Moench Method eliminates pain by balancing the body’s integrity. We identify and correct the root causes of pain instead of just treating the client’s symptoms.

Our approach has been so successful for over 20,000 people over the past 25 years that our business has been almost exclusively by word of mouth referrals.

Ken’s clients come from all walks of life. He has treated infants, kids, adults, the elderly, and more. A large percentage of his clients are professional, collegiate, middle and high school athletes because they get hurt so often.

As his business has grown, Ken realized he can only help a very limited number of people with his own two hands. In order for Therapy Central to grow and to help more people, his role needed to change.

Over the last two years, Ken has transitioned from therapist to teacher. He has supervised, trained, and armed our team therapists with the skills they need to know how to apply all that Ken has learned over the years and use the Moench Method when servicing clients.
